OneAssist: Do they really assist?

Please note this is not a paid promotion. This blog is more out of recent personal experience with OneAssist Headphone Warranty.

In the age of wireless buds, I still use wired headphones and since there is only one choice with Apple, I use the below Apple Earpods with Lighting Connector. Little did I know how helpful the OneAssist one-year extended warranty (snippet below) would be when I bought it for around Rs.130-150/- with the thought that these wired Apple Earpods would not last for a couple of years (even my earlier one lasted around 15 months).

Apple Earpods come with 1-year manufacturing warranty (which is as good as not having it as Apple Service in India for a lack of better word is pathetic). I would rather not engage with Apple Service or visit their center but throw away my Earpods and buy a new one. Luckily, my Earpods Control Panel stopped working just few weeks after the end of manufacturing warranty and that is when I connected with OneAsssit team via Twitter and below is my experience:

  • Claim Process: They were quick to connect and asked to fill out the form on their website whereby one needs to give the image of the product, invoice, government issue ID proof, issue faced, and most important “Date when the issue occurred”. This is where it get’s bit tricky below is the snippet from the T&C (to be honest I didn’t pay any attention to it while purchasing and not even while putting up a claim). While, filing the claim if you missed this window (or used a date that is 2 days past while filing it, the claim would be rejected citing the below. I guess, now you know what needs to be done while filing the form and how to get around this first hurdle.
  • Best Feature: No non-sense free pick up and drop service. I mean hats off.
  • Since Earpods are rarely repairable, OneAssist provides you a refund after depreciation. This is based on the invoice value. Refer to the below table for details.
  • Things to keep in mind while making a claim: Physical Damages are not covered while claiming. For example, if my control panel or any side of the Earpods had stopped working due to physical damage, then the claim would be rejected. The rejection would happen right away. In my case, as they stopped working one fine day so claim was accepted without any hassle. Do make sure not to fall into any insurer trick. They often look for a remark that would reject your claim. Hence, my blog aims to educate on how to navigate your claim smoothly. I want to make sure we don’t give OneAssist Team any chance to reject your claim.

Since I bought these Earpods from Amazon back in July’23, the invoice value was Rs. 1699/-, after the claim for refund was accepted, the amount was received very quickly into my bank account after depreciation which came out to be Rs. 1189/-

My View: I think the process is hassle-free if you can navigate through the T&C and it’s not a bad deal at all to buy the extended warranty for around Rs. 129/- for one year and Rs. 209/- for two years. Snippets from Amazon are below.

What I did next: After my experience with OneAssist, I have been buying the 2 years extended warranty for all the headphones/Earphones within my family as sooner or later they are bound to stop working (even without physical damage), and better to get a decent amount back to buy the next one.

Comment and let us know your experience while claiming an extended warranty for different products. Good and bad experiences are welcomed. This would help educate your readers whether some warranties are a product fit or not. In the case of wired Earpods, I reckon it’s a great deal.
